Internet Marketing Degrees

April 7, 2009

For profit educational institutions like FullSail.edu appear to be the first to offer degrees in the Internet Marketing field.

According to the Full Sail website:

The future of marketing is online, and successful web marketing requires a new set of skills, and a unique language of its own. The Internet has changed the way companies attract and keep customers, requiring fresh advertising strategy that utilizes e-mail, websites, and wireless media.

Indeed.

I can’t imagine any student landing a marketing related job after college who isn’t familiar with doesn’t basic internet marketing terms and concepts.

Full Sail touches on four of the basics – Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing, Pay Per Click and Web Analytics –  on their landing page for attracting potential internet marketing students.

Any marketer student or otherwise will need to be able to speak “internet marketing” language if they hope to work in the field of marketing tomorrow or in the future.

Getting a degree in internet marketing would be one way a future marketer could convince prospective employers of their employment potential within the marketing field.

21st Century Newsstand and Newsrack

April 5, 2009

I went to buy a newspaper from the trusty newsrack near my lakehouse I had bought papers from for several years and discovered it had been removed.

I initially thought it was a store related issue so I drove to the next location several miles away only to find it too was gone.

I asked the store owner about the newsracks whereabouts and learned all of the newstands for the “state’s newspaper” had been removed to reduce costs.

I would make the trip to buy the paper more out of habit than necessity.

Why buy a newspaper when you can get all of the same information on a laptop or handheld without the trip, time or cost?

I guess the state’s newspaper along with every other newspaper are now asking the very same question too.

However, the images I added shortly after the Local Business Center began accepting photos and videos didn’t appear in my business listing until recently.

My Local Business Listing now includes both the video and image I provided.
