This is an interesting debate. E-books are ideal for taking social marketing to new levels and changing the face of advertising – in particular product placement to mood. The most savvy advertising managers/publishers will read the books before hand in order to pitch to emotion. The question is whether constant references away from the books will create a distraction for the reader; it may well be that e-books have limited sponsors in order to make the advertising less intrusive and more relevant demographically.
